Daves Snapper

Posted by Anita Fri, 21 Apr 2006 23:57:00 GMT

No, no, this does not happen to be any of the Daves we know but he certainly does know how to make a good fish dish. I came accross this recipie when after one of our successful fishing trips I had made fish green curry an fish red curry and was starting to get a bit sick of the whole curry thing so I googled fish recipies. This is very tastey and a bit freasher tasteing than coconut fish curries:

Dave’s Snapper

  • Snapper
  • Sweet white onion (sliced)
  • Celery (diced)
  • Garlic (minced)
  • Peppers (diced-red, yellow, green for color)
  • Hot pepper (optional)
  • Olive Oil
  • Italian Stewed Tomatoes (1 can)
  • Parmesan Cheese (shredded)

Using a non-reactive dish cover the bottom with slices of sweet white onions and lay you fish fillets on top of onions. Sauté celery (diced), a clove of minced garlic, diced peppers (for color use red, green, yellow) and if you would like to “kick it up” add a diced hot pepper in Olive Oil (I definatly recommend this). Add sautéed vegetable on top of fish and pour Italian Stewed Tomatoes over top vegetables. Bake in oven at 360 degree for about 12 to 15 minutes. A minute or two before fish is done spread some (lots) shredded Parmesan Cheese over the top and slide back into the oven to finish.

Easter fishing

Posted by Anita Sun, 16 Apr 2006 00:19:00 GMT

Jack and I have been fishing people now for about almost 6 months. We started off with surfcasters and fishing off the shore. a passtime that I failed miserably in. toward the end I was able to cast out almost as far as the boys but still I never caught anything that we could keep. I caught quite a few sizeable sharks off the west coast but of course was never able to land them (thank god! I don’t know what I would have done if I did). Then Jack and I bought the boat.

the boat.

After that my luck changed. Whenever we went out, if anyone was going to catch a fish, so was I! Maybe it’s just that catching fish from a boat doesnt require as much skill as fishing from land but still, its great fun. Still one thing has been missing and that is THE BIG FISH! everything we have caught up untill now has been somewhere just over the leagal size mark but never anything to get excited about. So I have been waiting and hoping to catch some thing that might just hang over the edges of a pan. And on Good Friday I managed it.

My fish

I know any fisherman worth their salt will probably deride this as being far too small to be crowing about but at 42 cm Its as big a fish as I have ever caught and thats for sure. Jack had some very good luck too. His was 49cm so beats the pants off mine.

Jacks fish

And this is just the begining dont forget. No fish is safe!! Someday soon we’ll be reeling in huge fish the size of coffee tables!!

The Threats Become Tangible

Posted by Anita Sat, 08 Apr 2006 09:09:00 GMT

For quite some time I have been threatening certain people (you know who you are) with the fact that, I yes I, am capable of mass communication on a possible scale that could not have been imagined at the time of my birth. MMWAHAHA threatening laughter. I know you will be shaking in your boots, terrified that I might actualy do it…. Rebecca this one is for you!!

Becs Dancing!

HarHarHarHar you didn’t think I had it in me did you?! just goes to show what a little teamwork can do. I’d like to take this opportunity to drag Jack down with me.
